I have an IBM 350 I bought for my son. It
has a Pentium-90 installed and I changed the setting to be a Pentium
100... It runs fine but it's not fast enough for his games. I'm trying to
keep him off my system by giving him his own.
My question.... I want to swap out the CPU. Since this motherboard does
not appear to be jumper selectable, I simply want to know which CPU's can
I use to replace this old P90? Apparently I'll be limited to only the gain
achieved by the new CPU with the present motherboard settings to run a
P100.
CPU upgrade kits available from Evergreen, Kingston,
PowerLeap, and others (linked to our Vendors
page) can boost your IBM 350 to the performance of a Pentium-233,
with MMX capability as well. As our CPU
Comparator shows, they can at least double the speed of your son's
computer. He may not be able to frag very quickly in Quake or MechWarrior--
but you may not want him to, either...
