The HP 6340 shipped with a Celeron 300MHz
processor, Intel's first attempt at a budget-priced Pentium II class chip.
However, as you can see from our Celeron
stats page (and like that of our friend with the HP
8250), this Celeron was stripped of an on-board cache. As you can see
from its CPU score, this severely
crippled its performance.
Your CPU upgrade options will largely depend upon how configurable are the
voltage and bus speed options on your HP motherboard. I would recommend
staying in the Celeron line and upgrading to the Slot-1 version of the
Celeron 433. It should be almost twice the speed
of your current CPU.
For warranty coverage, I would again consult your local HP dealer to
install your CPU upgrade. |
