My CPU had the misfortune of being struck
by lightning.
The only damage that occurred (thanks to a surge protector) was the
charge entered via the modem (which got fried). After I replaced the
modem, I discovered that the motherboard took a hit also and won't allow
the new modem to work. After causing the modem to dial my ISP, the system
shuts down (restarts) and begins "scandisk".
I would like to find a replacement for my HP Pavilion model 3260
motherboard. Going to "hp-at-home.com" is no help whatsoever.
I need to find a replacement motherboard that will fit my 3260 case.
Not wanting to treat your misfortune too
lightly, but I would take your lightning strike as a sign from above that
it is time for a new computer.
As noted in our previous article, the HP
Pavilion 3260 shipped with a Pentium-200MMX
CPU and has limited motherboard upgrade options due to its slimmed-down
desktop case. It's time to rescue its hard drive and pop it into a new
system that will better accommodate the speed requirements of today's
internet multimedia, games, and peripherals, not to mention provide AGP
video capability.
