Unless you have some special sentimental
reasons to want to keep your Vectra box while tossing its guts into the
computer graveyard, I would recommend donating
box and all (it's much more useful to someone else, that way) and
going for a new Pentium motherboard
system that is already designed to fit together. This will make sure that
you will have sufficient cooling and a power supply ample to run the
latest processors and peripheral hardware.
Note that the fastest Pentium
currently available at 1GHz is not really available, unless you
have money to burn. Check out our CPU Scorecard
to compare speeds and prices of the various Pentiums
(and other CPUs) that are available. The better value systems for
the price are always indicated by this
score bar. The best overall (in our opinion) is indicated by this
score bar. As for vendors, head straight for our price
lists for a good selection of models and comparative price offerings.
Of course, you are always invited to the CPU
Scorecard Store to shop for your next computer.
