The L2 cache size listed on our AMD
K6-2 Statistics page is the maximum size that the processor will
support. The size of the cache you actually have is totally dependent upon
what is provided on the motherboard.
The Micronics C-200 mainboard has a built-in L2 cache that is fixed at
512kB. Improving the cache size is not an option and would not
significantly increase your system speed for most applications.
If you are looking for more speed, the Micronics C-200 will support
AMD's K6-III processor with a BIOS
upgrade. Going to a K6-III/450, as you can see from the CPU
Comparator, would increase your processor speed by at least 50%.
